Childhood Rice Bowl

family lifestyle

Growing up, I remember eating this simple dish as a child. Then once I knew how to use the stove, sometimes I would make this meal after school if I was hungry. This is a quick and easy meal that can be made for kids and as a lazy meal.

Ingredients:

Rice
Cheese
Egg
Soy sauce
Sesame oil
Butter (optional)
Roasted seaweed (optional)

Directions:

1) Scoop some rice into a small bowl
2) Place cheese and butter on top of the rice
3) Fry an egg (preferably sunny side or over easy) and place it on top of the cheese
4) Drizzle in the soy sauce and sesame oil
5) Mix everything together

Variations:

  • You can eat this with roasted seaweed (snack sized ones) by taking a scoop of the rice and placing it on the seaweed, like a small taco.
  • For extra protein, you can add in ingredients such as canned tuna fish, diced ham, or shredded chicken.
